Josephine Renee is a 25-year-old Brisbane author with a Bachelor of Creative Writing. She is a 2024 Brisbane Writers Festival Youth Ambassador, a two-time GenreCon short story winner, and a WhyNot creative resident. She has work published in WQWhyNot, Glass Magazine and more.

Author Biography Long 

Josephine Renee (she/her) is a 25-year-old queer Meanjin (Brisbane) Australian author and graduate of Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor’s degree in creative writing, minoring in screenwriting for interactive environments. She is the two-time winner of the GenreCon Short Story Competition, and has volunteered at Brisbane Writers Festival 2022 – 2023 and was the 2024 Youth Ambassador. She was the president of the university’s Literary Salons, a Why Not Creative Resident, and the 2023 recipient of the Kellie van Meurs Memorial Writer’s Scholarship. She has travelled Europe and North Africa for two years, spent a year and a half in the USA, Canada, Cuba, and Mexico, and has recently returned from Africa. When not gaining world-building inspiration, she dedicates her time to writing and illustrating, with a self-published children’s book and dedicated readership on her web-comic.
